There's a framed photo of Heather and me that's thirty years old now and been on the wall above my desk for the last fourteen. It was shot by Rod Ellmore in 1994 while our whole family was together in Auckland. When I look at it I think: “Didn’t we look cute thirty years ago? And I had hair! Remember how those Lockwood houses creaked? The bloody dog ruined that couch… Love the Indian parchment — still on the wall… What happened to those Churchill books? The printing is like new… Those shoes were great…” In another thirty years our grandchildren To View More >>

Pagemount vs Overlay We offer a few types of matted album — Overlay Matted, Duo and Musée —and one of the important differences between them is whether the prints are mounted Overlay or Pagemount style. So what's the difference? Overlay: Industry-wide, almost all matted albums are overlay mounted, so overlays may not be new to you. Details may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, but the photographs are attached behind the mat, which covers and conceals the edge of the prints. You can see this clearly in the first photograph. To View More >>

Jocelen Janon photographs people. " People moving, running, arguing, dancing, jumping, protesting, agreeing, swimming, smoking, flying, crying, working. Doing nothing. People living." His 'Rear Window' series, framed through car windows, is a genuine, regular pleasure. Jocelen finds cars a fascinating way to observe people's behaviour, a reflection of their social status, life challenges, and priorities. And he loves the way a car can become a tool for him. "Something to shoot through voyeuristically, to add depth and also tell a story, or hint at something deeper." Rear Window To View More >>

Just a quick reminder that this weekend is our cut-off date to guarantee you receive your album orders before our end-of-year closedown. Don’t worry too much if you think you might miss the deadline by a day or two, but do get your order in as soon as possible! We’ll be working really hard to get everything out before the holidays — even orders placed in late November/early December. And unlike our competitors we don’t charge rush fees. The advantage of ordering earlier is that you get to the top of the queue and we have more time to make sure everything's correct and to To View More >>

"I love a little quirk from time to time - something different for the soul — to keep things fresh, to keep the spark alive and to fuel my passion for wedding photography…” Maybe that explains why Jonny Harper did such an incredible job of capturing Tanaya and Mathew's wedding. I was so excited to discover their album coming through the Bindery. Working on this blog post was a lot of fun, with rabbits hidden in the bushes, incredible walls of art and so much more… Tanaya is a set designer, Matthew a base player for his London based jazz band. I am always 'oohing' and 'aahing' over destination weddings, and when I came across Brian and Delara’s Bali wedding it was no exception. On the clifftops of Bukit Peninsula, Brian and Delara wed at Villa Latitude in Karang Kembar, Bali. They're both from Perth Australia, and they enjoyed an entire week celebrating, relaxing and having fun with their nearest and dearest. I just love the beautiful soft light captured in their photographs, not to mention the breathtaking location! Brian and Delara said their 'I do's' overlooking the Indian Ocean - It looks stunning! Brian and Delara chose To View More >>

If you're flying in to shoot a wedding and the weather's so foul the plane mightn't be able to land, you have every wedding photographer's nightmare. And to say the weather was foul would be an understatement... But the plane did land and Johannes (of Moda Fotografica) had already covered the other bases before heading out to shoot Vicky and Ricky's wedding at French Farm in the South Island of New Zealand. With heavy rain forecast and weather warnings in place, Johannes discussed with the couple what would happen if the weather didn't play nice. He walked them through how it might effect what To View More >>

If you were reading our blog last month you might have heard I didn't make the best decision when it came to picking my wedding photographer, and I have less than wonderful wedding pictures to show for it. If you missed the posts they were Lessons I learnt from planning my wedding and Why I cut my photography budget. As I mentioned previously however, my husband and I were fortunate to take part in a photo shoot with kiwi photographers A Couple of Night Owls. Though these pictures can never quite replace the missed moments on our wedding day, it is amazing to have such beautiful pictures of us To View More >>
